Jaehun Choi
Jaehun Choi is a clarinetist, woodwind doubler, and educator based in the New Jersey and New York area. An active orchestral and chamber musician, he has performed with the NYU Wind Symphony, NYU Orchestra, NYU Opera, Rutgers Symphony Orchestra, and Rutgers Wind Ensemble. As a chamber musician, Jaehun is dedicated to collaborative music-making and expressive storytelling, balancing standard repertoire with contemporary works.
Beyond his chamber work, Jaehun has developed versatility across the clarinet family and other woodwind instruments. As a woodwind doubler, he has performed in numerous musical productions for high school, community theater, and volunteer organizations. Alongside his performance career, he is a dedicated educator who maintains a private studio and serves as a woodwind instructor for marching bands, helping students develop strong fundamentals and artistic curiosity.
Jaehun currently studies with Yoonah Kim at New York University Steinhardt, where he is pursuing a Master of Music in Clarinet Performance. He holds a Bachelor of Music from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, where he studied with Dr. Maureen Hurd and Mark Dover. Born in Seoul, South Korea, Jaehun grew up in a bilingual and multicultural environment that continues to shape his unique musical perspectives.
